Profound measures what AI says about you. Botsanalyser measures what AI does on your site.
Two different layers of the same problem. Profound asks ChatGPT and Claude questions and scores your citation share. Botsanalyser captures the actual crawler hits on your pages that every AI answer depends on. Most serious teams will end up running both.
AI visibility. Measures what AI engines answer.
- ✓Citation share across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini answers. The outcome layer.
- ✓Prompt-level sentiment and competitor comparison.Share of voice, tone, brand mentions.
- ✗No visibility into which pages were actually crawled.Infers from citation output, not from input data.
- ✗Cannot tell you why a page is or is not being cited. If the bot never visited, you will not see that here.
- ✗No per-URL, per-bot data stream for your BI tool.Reports are closed-system.
Bot analytics. The ground-truth input layer.
- ✓Every GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, anthropic-ai, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User visit logged.Per URL, in real time.
- ✓Per-URL crawl frequency, response status, first-seen dates.Know which pages AI engines actually read.
- ✓Feeds the data that every AI visibility score depends on.A page that is never crawled will never be cited.
- ✓REST API, outbound webhooks, GA4 / Looker / HubSpot connectors.Open system by design.
- ✗Does not measure citation share or answer sentiment.Use Profound or a similar tool for that.

How the two fit together
Think of it as a funnel with two measurable layers:
- Input layer (Botsanalyser). Which pages does ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity actually crawl, how often, and with what response status? If a crawler never reaches your pricing page, your pricing page cannot get cited.
- Output layer (Profound, Peec AI, Otterly). Of the pages AI engines did read, which ones show up in their answers, under which prompts, with what competitor comparisons?
Running Profound without input data is like optimising for conversion rate without tracking sessions. You can see what won, but you cannot see what got through the door. Running Botsanalyser without an AI visibility tool is the opposite: you know who visited, but you do not know whether you got cited.
When to pick one over the other
If your budget only covers one tool and you need citation-rate reporting to show your CEO, pick an AI visibility tool. If your budget only covers one tool and you are a technical or SEO lead who needs to diagnose why a page is invisible in AI answers, pick Botsanalyser. If you run content at any scale, you will want both.
